Going Global with Fulbright: Mrs. G. Goes to India

"Faith is taking the first step, even if you don't see the whole staircase."

It is without any kind of question that I announce how flipping thrilled I am to be going to India in July of 2023 with Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms!!!! For those of you who aren't aware, I'm a current Fulbright Scholar, which is an extremely competitive fellowship for educators run by the US Department of State which allows us to engage in a DC symposium, a graduate course on Global Education, and the pinnacle, our international assignment to engage all that we learned in a completely different terrain.

Due to Covid, our cohort was tabled a school year so the fellows before us can get their chance to travel abroad. So we had to wait to get our international assignments. I cannot begin to articulate the vast array of emotions I felt when I received this email from them below.

I'm honored to be able to investigate my selected topic of culturally responsive curriculum in India. I'm ecstatic to interrogate whether or not they are celebrating the heroes of their culture, and I'm elated to see if there is any trace of global citizenship, social justice, and exposure to activism for their students. Talk about taking on a global education lens, as beloved India comes into focus-I'm here for it! Let's go!

I want to encourage you to make manifest the glory within you through a relentless chase towards what you're made for. This is my dream realized. Merging the world and the classroom by which I get to investigate, reimagine, and become a spokesperson for is a layer of my calling.

Follow my journey as I capture, catalog, and document this expedition. I will eventually add to my Global guide on this blog and establish a bit of a map for educators and advocates to glean from to continue the gospel and message of the power and importance of Global education integration in the K-12 space.

2023 is going to be epic: I feel it, sense its frequency, discern Heaven's tug-following forward I go into deeper dimension of thought, calling, destiny's fabrics, and world travel beckonings. India, I already love you and thank you in advance for changing my life. I can't wait to experience your culture, your sounds and smells, your cuisine, your people, your very quintessence. Be still my effervescent and beating heart.
